Most Betmica payment problems come down to one of four things: your bank blocking a gambling transaction, a name or address mismatch, a verification step that hasn’t finished, or a timeout between the cashier and the provider. Below we go through the errors we’ve seen most often, in roughly the order players report them.
Tip
Before anything else: don’t retry a failed deposit three or four times in a row. Banks can flag repeated attempts as suspicious, and if the first one did go through you’ll end up with duplicate charges.
Debit card declined
A declined Visa or Mastercard debit card is the most common issue. The usual causes:
- Gambling block on your card. Many UK banks (Monzo, Starling, Barclays, Lloyds, HSBC and others) let you block gambling transactions in their app. If you switched it on, the payment will fail — and some banks impose a cooling-off period of up to 48 hours before you can turn it off again. That delay is deliberate; consider whether you want to remove it.
- Strong Customer Authentication not completed. Your bank may have sent an approval request to its app that timed out.
- Insufficient funds or daily card limit reached.
- Card not in your name. Betmica only accepts cards registered to the account holder.
- A credit card. Credit cards are banned for UK gambling, so they will always be declined.
Fix: check your banking app for a pending approval or a gambling block, confirm the card is a debit card in your name, then try once more. If it still fails, try Open Banking or PayPal.
Apple Pay or Google Pay failing
Wallet payments fail for slightly different reasons:
- The card behind your wallet has a gambling block or has expired.
- You’re over the £2,000 per-deposit wallet limit.
- You’re using a browser that doesn’t support the wallet — Apple Pay needs Safari on iPhone, iPad or Mac; Google Pay works best in Chrome on Android.
- Private browsing or a content blocker is stopping the payment sheet from loading.
Fix: open Betmica in your phone’s default browser, switch off any content blockers for the site, and check the wallet card in your phone’s settings. Our troubleshooting hub covers general browser fixes.
PayPal says “unable to process”
PayPal shows this generic message for several reasons:
- The PayPal account name doesn’t match your Betmica account.
- Your PayPal is funded by a credit card. PayPal blocks credit-funded gambling payments for UK users; set a debit card or bank account as the funding source.
- PayPal has its own security hold on your account.
- You’ve hit PayPal’s own sending limit.
Fix: log in to PayPal directly, check for notifications, and change the preferred funding source to your bank or debit card. If the problem is on PayPal’s side, only PayPal can lift it.
Open Banking or Trustly timeout
Trustly / Open Banking hands you over to your bank’s app and back again. If the hand-back fails, the cashier may show a timeout even though your bank approved the payment.
Fix: wait 15 minutes and check your Betmica balance and your bank statement before trying again. If money has left your account, follow the next section. If not, retry — and keep the cashier tab open while you approve in your bank app, rather than closing it.
Money left your bank but the deposit didn’t arrive
This is stressful but usually resolves itself. Check these in order:
- Is it pending or completed in your bank? A pending entry is often an authorisation that will drop off within a few working days if the deposit failed.
- Is it a bank transfer? These take 1–3 working days and must carry the exact reference from the cashier.
- Has it been longer than 24 hours? Contact Betmica support via live chat (08:00–00:00 UK time) with the details listed below.
If the payment completed but never reached your Betmica balance, support can trace it with the provider’s transaction ID and credit it manually or refund it.
Duplicate charges
Two identical charges usually mean either the deposit went through twice after a retry, or one is a temporary authorisation hold.
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Two “pending” entries, one balance credit | Authorisation hold | Wait 3–5 working days for one to drop off |
| Two “completed” entries, two balance credits | You deposited twice | Withdraw the extra if unplayed, or set a lower limit |
| Two “completed” entries, one balance credit | Genuine duplicate | Contact Betmica support with both transaction IDs |
Don’t raise a chargeback with your bank first. A chargeback usually results in the account being blocked while it’s investigated — see our account blocked guide.
Withdrawal sent to the “wrong” method
Under the closed-loop rule, Betmica returns money to the method you deposited with. If you deposited by both card and PayPal, part of a withdrawal may go back to the card first, even if you selected PayPal. Paysafecard deposits are the exception: they can’t receive payouts, so funds go to the alternative method you’ve added.
If a payout went to a card or account you no longer use, contact support straight away. Closed or expired cards usually bounce payments back to the casino, which can then re-route them once you’ve verified a new method. Full timings are on our withdrawals page.

What to send Betmica support
Betmica support works through live chat (08:00–00:00 UK time, seven days) or the Help Centre contact form (replies within 24 hours). There’s no phone line. Have this ready to save back-and-forth:
- Your account email address (never your password)
- Date, time and amount of the transaction
- Payment method and the last four digits of the card, or the e-wallet email
- The transaction ID or reference from your bank, PayPal, Skrill or Trustly
- A screenshot of the bank or e-wallet entry, with other transactions hidden
- The exact error message, if one appeared
- Whether the entry shows as pending or completed
If support can’t resolve it, you can raise a formal complaint; Betmica has eight weeks to respond, after which you can go to the ADR provider listed in Betmica’s terms. Our support page explains the route.
Payment problem FAQs
Why does my bank keep declining Betmica?
+
Most often because a gambling block is switched on in your banking app, or because the payment approval in the app timed out. Check both before retrying.
My deposit hasn't arrived after an hour — what now?
+
Check whether the bank entry is pending or completed. If it’s completed and more than 24 hours have passed, contact support with the transaction ID.
Should I raise a chargeback?
+
Not as a first step. Contact support first; a chargeback normally freezes the account while it’s investigated.
Still stuck?
Our support page has a question form for guide-related queries, and the FAQ covers quick answers. For deposit and withdrawal basics, return to the payments hub.
